Lynch, Markey Question Hub Port Security
Congressman
Ed Markey and I recently sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland
Security Michael Chertoff, expressing our concern that the Port of
Boston was given a low-risk security rating. The low rating would
make it more difficult for Boston to receive federal port security
funds. For more information, read our letter.
Lynch Announces Funding For Bulletproof Vests
I
am pleased to announce that police departments in 13 cities and towns
in the Ninth Congressional District received federal funding to
purchase bulletproof vests. To learn more and to find out which
cities and towns received funding, read the full release.
Lynch Calls For Full Funding of No Child Left Behind
Since
being signed into law in 2001, the No Child Left Behind Act has been
consistently under-funded. Education funding in the
Republicans' FY 2007 Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations bill again
falls short. To see how this affects our state, read the full release.
100% Rating From League Of Conservation Voters
The
League of Conservation Voters released its 2006 Environmental
Scorecard. I am honored to have earned a 100% rating,
meaning that I cast a pro-environment vote on every environment-related
vote before the House in 2006. For more information, read
the League of Conservation Voters' release.
Lynch Fights To Keep VA Hospitals Open
On
August 24, I met with veterans leaders and veterans to discuss the next
step in fighting the proposed consolidation of VA Hospitals in Greater
Boston. The Veterans Administration's Capital Asset
Realignment for Enhanced Services (CARES) process is considering
consolidating the West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain VA Hospitals into one
facility and moving inpatient services from Bedford to
Brockton. Read more on my website.
