Systemic discrimination and injustice in any form are contrary to American values and the principles of equality and due process enshrined in our Constitution. Congressman Lynch is committed to fighting for the fundamental right of equality for every American and believes that leadership and collective action are powerful instruments that can serve to evoke change.

As a Member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, Congressman Lynch continues to examine and advance efforts to reform our criminal justice system and address racial disparities in healthcare, housing, education employment, and other areas. He is an original sponsor of comprehensive legislation introduced by Congressional Black Caucus Chair Karen Bass, the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, to reform our civil rights and policing laws and proudly voted in support of H.R. 7120 on the House Floor.

Congressman Lynch is a member of the Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus, a Member organization dedicating to advancing equal rights, addressing hate-motivated violence, and improving health and well-being for all Americans regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. As a cosponsor of the seminal Equality Act since its original introduction in 2015, Congressman Lynch was proud to cast his vote for this important civil rights legislation when it passed the House Floor in 2019. He is supportive of congressional action calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to recognize that the Constitution and our federal civil rights laws protect Americans against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Congressman Lynch is strongly opposed to efforts to ban or otherwise exclude transgender Americans from enlisting for military service and believes that no patriotic American should be prohibited from serving their country.

In order to better ensure gender equality, Congressman Lynch is a strong advocate for legislation to address sexual harassment and discrimination based on gender, to require equal pay for equal work, to enhance paid family and medical leave, and to combat violence against women. He is proud to support historic women's rights legislation including the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution. He is also strongly opposed to misguided efforts to curtail reproductive rights and has fought on the House Floor against legislation designed to defund organizations such as Planned Parenthood that provide critical family planning and women's healthcare services.
