Students Hold 'Town Hall For Our Lives' Events Across Massachusetts

BOSTON (CBS) - Students across Massachusetts met with politicians Saturday for a discussion on gun control.

Five town hall events were held as part of the "Town Hall for Our Lives" series, inspired by last month's "March for Our Lives" protests across the country.

Several federal and state legislators attended, including Senator Elizabeth Warren and U.S. Representatives Katherine Clark, Steve Lynch, Jim McGovern and Mike Capuano.

Warren and Clark spoke to students at the Kennedy Middle School in Natick.

"It is incredibly inspiring I think on the issue of preventing and ending gun violence, students are leading the way as so many times in American history, real change comes from our young adults and our students and it's very heartening to see that active and alive in my district," Clark told WBZ-TV.

The teenagers were motivated by students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, after 17 people were killed there in February.

"(They) really inspired a lot of students around here and around the whole nation to get involved and really just say this is enough, we just can't let this happen anymore," said Griffin Gould, an Arlington High School sophomore.

"I think it's really awesome because I'm very quiet in school, so I find it really nice that I'm able to be able to be part of something and show that anybody can educate themselves on a topic and be able to work hard to bring change," said sophomore Darcy Coleman.

Town halls were also held in Roxbury, Lowell, Millbury and Pittsfield Saturday.
