Congressional Art Competition now open for local high school students

BOSTON – The 2016 annual congressional art competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” began Wednesday.

The competition is open to all high school students who reside in the 8th Congressional District, including those who attend schools in Abington, Avon, Bridgewater, Brockton, East Bridgewater, Holbrook, Raynham, Stoughton, West Bridgewater and Whitman.

The winner will have his or her work displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a full year, according to a press release from the office U.S. Rep Stephen Lynch.  Additionally, there will be a reception in Washington, D.C., for all art competition winners and their families to celebrate the opening of the exhibit.

The competition is open for submissions and all entries must be received by Thursday, April 28, 2016.  Entries can be sent to Congressman Lynch’s Boston, Quincy, or Brockton district offices and addressed to the attention of Araba Adjei-Koranteng.  Please contact Congressman Lynch’s office at (617) 428-2000 or refer to his website, http://lynch.house.gov/serving-you/art-competition, for more information on the competition.
