Questions About the VA Backlog?

Currently, the Veterans Administration (VA) has a backlog of approximately 900,000 claims.  As the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan wind down, the VA must process a record number of compensation claims.  The average time to complete a claim is 279 days.  For the brave men and women who have served our country and for their families, this is simply unacceptable.  The VA recognizes the issue and is taking steps to end the backlog by 2015.  If you or someone you know is waiting on a claim, please contact the veterans’ caseworker in the Boston Office at 617-428-2000.   There are certain cases that can be expedited.  These include claims for veterans who are:
•    Former prisoners of war;
•    Homeless;
•    Medal of Honor recipients;
•    Seriously injured or very seriously injured;
•    Terminally ill; and
•    Undergoing financial hardships.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Boston office if you need help with a VA claim or if you have any questions or concerns.
