Congressional Student Competitions

Each year, I have the privilege of selecting artwork and apps created and designed by students from the 8th District in Congress as part of the Annual Congressional Art Competition and Congressional App Challenge.

Winners are honored in Washington, DC and their artwork and apps are displayed in the U.S. Capitol along with other winners throughout the country.

For more information, please visit the Art Competition and App Challenge page.

Internship Opportunities

I am pleased to offer many talented young people an opportunity to participate in public service as interns in both my Washington, D.C. and district offices. Interns learn how government works by researching legislation, attending meetings, and assisting me with constituent casework and inquiries. If you are a college student or recent graduate interested in interning with one of my offices, you can learn more and apply here.

Service Academy Nominations

As a Member of Congress, it is a privilege to recommend young men and women from the 8th District of Massachusetts for admittance to the four U.S. service academies. Please see the Service Academy Nominations page for more information on how to apply.

Learning About Your Government

Did you know that George Washington is the only President to have been elected unanimously? Or that America's first post office, public school, and public garden were all in Boston, Massachusetts?

Check out the Kids.gov page for more information, links, and fun facts about our government. Or try Ben's Guide to the U.S. Government for Kids, which features age-appropriate levels of links and information for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12.
