On Tuesday, September 13, at 11:00 AM, Chairman Candice Miller (R-MI) and Ranking Member Stephen F. Lynch (D-MA) of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Regulatory Affairs will hold a Field Hearing on the regulation of Schedule II prescription painkillers like OxyContin.

At the hearing, the Subcommittee will hear testimony from representatives of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Massachusetts House and Senate, a substance abuse treatment facility and the American Cancer Society.

As a result of the extensive abuse of OxyContin and the federal government’s lack of cohesive oversight policy for this Class II Controlled Substance, Congressman Lynch has introduced legislation that would ban the drug from the market.
