Washington D.C. — Last month, U.S. Representative Stephen F. Lynch (MA-08) secured nearly $30.5M in funding for community projects and veterans across Massachusetts 8th Congressional District in the final 2023 appropriations government funding package.
“The Community Project Funding process is highly collaborative and I am grateful for all the hard work and dedication of our local and state leaders,” said Rep. Lynch. “I am pleased to see that 14 Community Projects were funded in my district, providing nearly $30.5M that will help make residents safer, strengthen our communities, support veterans’ mental health, create jobs with good pay and start to tackle climate change. The appropriations bill requires extensive negotiations and I am thankful for the continued support of all my congressional colleagues to ensure these critical projects were included in the final government funding package.”
The $1.7T package includes funding that will help complete the following projects in the district:
- 1,500 Space Parking Garage, $750,000 (THUD)
- Allen Street Reconstruction, $3,150,000 (THUD)
- Ausonia Apartments Modernization, $750,000 (THUD)
- Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, Brockton, MA for facilities and equipment, $1,000,000 (Labor HHS)
- City of Brockton for the Biosolids Sludge Dryer Project, $2,000,000 (Interior)
- Driving Equitable Outcomes in Business Growth, $800,000 (FSGG)
- Lawrence R. Cosgrove Memorial Pool Upgrades, $3,000,000 (THUD)
- Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA for behavioral health and supportive services for adults and youth, $1,000,000 (Labor HHS)
- Mayor Hannon Parkway/Gen McConville Way New Intersection, $750,000 (THUD)
- Nantasket Ave Seawall Replacement, $4,943,000 (Homeland Security)
- New England Aquarium Modernization and Educational Programming , $2,400,000 (CJS)
- South Boston Community Health Center, Inc., South Boston, MA for facilities and equipment, $2,000,000 (Labor HHS)
- University of Massachusetts Boston, MA for facilities and equipment, $3,000,000 (Labor HHS)
- Wessagusset Beach Project, $4,906,059 (Homeland Security)
The government funding package was signed into law by President Biden on December 29th, 2022. When enacted, the State of Massachusetts will receive an estimated amount of $255M in funding from the bill that will support 161 community projects across the Commonwealth. To receive Community Project Funding, an entity must submit a detailed application and demonstrate that its project enjoys strong local support.
